Girls Night Out
Three sisters celebrating a birthday with a girl’s night out at a swinging night spot are drawn on stage by an enthusiastic emcee. As he makes fun with them he discovers that they sing together and cajoules them into doing an impromptu song for the crowd. To the surprise of of everyone, their performance is stunning. An encore ensues and begins a magical musical journey that revisits the hits and memories of the glorious age of the ‘Girl Groups’ –– from the Andrews sisters to the Dixie Chicks and the top girl groups in-between. The emcee, (now returned to his first role as band leader) adds occasional commentary throughout the evening to background the songs (and to inject time for costume changes) as the sisters perform knockout renditions of iconic hits: Sincerely, In The Mood, Mr. Sandman, Is You Is or Is You Ain’t My Baby, Lollipop, One Fine Day, My Boyfriend’s Back, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, Then He Kissed Me, Leader of the Pack, Chapel of Love, Mr. Postman, You Can’t Hurry Love, Baby Love, Where Did Our Love Go, Neutron Dance, Jump, Long Time Gone, and more. The unique personalities and family dynamic of the three sisters emerge through banter and interplay. They are funny and likable in their own right, and just want to have a good time on their ‘Girls Night Out’. The audience gets to share their contagious joy and celebrate the fun and memories from the glorious age of the ‘Girl Groups’. The hits they remember. And the behind the scene stories they’ve never heard before. It’s a ‘feel good’ evening with warm memories, terrific musical performances and plenty of laughter.
